Trooper Cpl Kenneth L. Busenbark

Kenneth Lee Busenbark was born November 23, 1924. His parents were Raymond L. and Carrie (Walden) Busenbark. His siblings were Martha L., Harold M. and Arthur. S.

 

Kenneth was the first born child.

The family owned a farm outside of Crawfordsville, Indiana.

 

Kenneth enlisted in the U.S. Army for the duration of the war on March 8, 1943 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana.

 

He had a grammar school education, held a chauffeurs license and was driving a truck at enlistment.

He was also not married at the time of his enlistment.

 

Kenneth returned to Crawfordsville after the war, was married and had two children.

Kenneth died November 28, 1992 at Crawfordville, Indiana.

CPL. KENNETH BUSENBARK HAS LONG RECORD OF SERVICE OVERSEAS

 

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Busenbark, 711 west Wabash avenue, whose son, Kenneth Busenbark, is in service in Germany, have received word of his promotion to corporal.

 

Cpl. Busenbark enlisted May 8, 1943, and took his basic training at Camp Roberts, Calif. Then he joined the paratroopers and was sent to Fort Benning, Ga., and Camp Mackall, N.C. where he was given special training, preparatory to overseas service.

 

His first overseas assignment was in North Africa. Later he participated in the invasions of Sicily and Italy, and was among those who fought at Anzio Beach.

 

Transferred to the western front, following this service, he also saw duty in France, and Belgium, and finally in Germany where he has been stationed the past several months.

 

Cpl. Busenbark has five battle stars, and also the Bronze star, which he received recently for gallantry in action.

 

During his long battle experience he served with the 101st airborne division. A few weeks ago he was transferred to the 82nd airborne division.

 

His parents, who were informed of his promotion last week, have not seen him since he enlisted.
